Our Story
Island Lavender is a family-owned business rooted in tradition, passion, and a deep love for lavender. Part of the Wilder Farms family of brands, our mission is to educate, share the natural beauty, and promote wellness benefits of lavender through products that are thoughtfully crafted and honestly made.
Our journey began not on Washington Island—but with a serendipitous visit.
The original Island Lavender was founded at the Historic Island Dairy on Washington Island, where the first lavender fields in Door County were planted. One day, the original owners passed by our Lavender Farm located on Highway 57 between Baileys Harbor and Sister Bay. Driven by a generous spirit and a love for lavender—they stopped in to see if we might need help. What began as “Who’s in our driveway?” quickly turned into a meaningful friendship built on shared values, deep knowledge, and mutual respect. That moment led to a heartfelt transition in ownership and a passing of the torch to our family, who proudly carry on the Island Lavender name and legacy.
Today, we handcraft each product—from essential oils and soaps to lavender lemonade and culinary treats—with lavender grown and distilled right here in Door County. Our essential oils are made in small batches with care and integrity, ensuring every bottle reflects the purity of the plant. You can visit our farm seasonally located a short, 6 minute, drive from the store. Learn more at wilderdoorcounty.com
As active members of the US Lavender Growers Association, one of our owners serves as the Head of Advocacy for the entire U.S. lavender industry, working to strengthen and elevate the future of American lavender farming.
We are proud to continue the tradition of lavender farming and education, sharing the beauty and benefits of this remarkable crop with everyone who visits our shop or experiences our products.
Thank you for being a part of our story—and for supporting a family-owned business dedicated to quality, community, and the timeless magic of lavender.
